Documentary on nuclear power to be screened Tuesday

March 24, 2014

The 2013 documentary "Pandora's Promise," which traces the arguments for and against nuclear energy, will be shown Tuesday (March 25) followed by a question-and-answer session.

The screening and discussion are set for 6-9:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) in Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse. The 87-minute film examines what has led some environmentalists to switch from adamant rejection of nuclear power to strong support of it. After the showing, the Q&A session will be led by Robert Bean, assistant professor of nuclear engineering, and Laura Young, lecturer in political science. The event is free and open to the public.

Several campus organizations are joining to bring this film and topic to attention. Those groups include the American Nuclear Society student section at Purdue and the Fusion Awareness Organization.
