Center for Healthy Living adds second opportunity to join new weight management program

February 3, 2014

Good response has led the Center for Healthy Living (CHL) to add another group to its weight management program. The new group will meet from noon to 12:50 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 11 and running through May 6.

The group will meet in Smith Hall, Room 118, except for one week when the group will gather in the Biochemistry Building, Room 105.

Participants will have the opportunity to work with a variety of health care experts as they explore techniques to lose weight or keep from gaining weight. Program participants will have access to the CHL’s registered dietitian, health coaches and employee assistance counselor.

The program is free and open to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff. Spouses and same-sex domestic partners covered on a Purdue medical plan are also eligible for the program.

Those wishing to participate should call Millie Fenneman, CHL practice manager, at 49-45505 by Friday (Feb. 7).

The center’s new weight management program replaces the Weight Watchers at Work program that Human Resources  has supported for the past few years. The Division of Recreational Sports has been running the program on campus while the Center for Healthy Living has been developing its replacement program. The current Weight Watchers at Work program through Rec Sports is the final one that HR will be sponsoring.

In addition to the center’s new group weight management program, one-on-one health coaching for weight management is available through the center. Individuals who are interested in meeting with a health coach should call the center at 49-40111 to make an appointment.
