The Big Ten Network's top program about contributions to better living will air Wednesday (Jan. 15) with segments on Purdue initiatives -- one in research and one in engagement -- and promos of the segments are available on YouTube. "BTN LiveBIG" will be telecast at 11:30 p.m.
It will run again at 12:45 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 16) and 2:15 p.m. Friday (Jan. 17). Wednesday's debut follows BTN's telecast of the Purdue vs. Illinois men's basketball game at 9 p.m. and "Big Ten Finale" at 11 p.m.
One "BTN Live BIG" segment will look at research in the College of Health and Human Sciences that is measuring the effects of an Indianapolis program in which patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease use the movements and intensity of boxing for therapeutic purposes -- but the combat is directed only at the disease. The promo of the segment is available at http://youtu.be/VHDtQMEDFTU.
The other segment will go behind the scenes of the nine-day Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities, conducted at Purdue by the Krannert School of Management, which helps military veterans reacclimate to civilian work life and find business opportunities. The promo of the segment is available at http://youtu.be/mTH23gmwO9M.
"BTN LiveBIG" shares positive and inspiring stories of ways that people at Big Ten universities are responding to social, health and other challenges in the world. In the current series, which continues intermittently through Feb. 14, the 12 member universities each tell two stories. The schedule is at http://btn.com/2014/01/02/btn-livebig-returns-jan-8-with-new-shows.
