Applications sought for Charles O. McGaughey Leadership Awards

Applications are being accepted for the Charles O. McGaughey Leadership Awards, which honor Purdue undergraduates who show leadership abilities and appreciation for basic American values.

The awards, each of which is at least $2,000, will be presented in the spring to at least four Purdue students. The awards are made possible by an endowment from the late Charles McGaughey, a 1939 Purdue graduate. 

An applicant must:

* Be an undergraduate student at the West Lafayette campus who will have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies as a full-fee student by the end of the spring semester 2014.

* Have at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

* Have demonstrated an appreciation of the values of liberty and the democratic form of government and an appreciation of the importance of respect for others and for the diversity of the United States.

* Have evidenced no addiction to drugs or alcohol.

* Have no criminal record.

Previous McGaughey Leadership Award recipients are ineligible. Preference will be given to applicants whose majors are in the College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Krannert School of Management. Presentation of materials also will be considered.
