Personalized guidance on nutrition, exercise available through spring program

December 6, 2013

The Department of Nutrition Science is looking for clients to participate in the nutrition, fitness and health program to be offered in the spring 2014 semester.

Clients will receive a fitness and dietary assessment, a personalized exercise program, tailored nutrition strategies and planning, follow-up and program changes as needed and free access to the Ismail Center exercise facility and Boilermaker Aquatic Center during the semester.

The program is offered as a course for seniors in the nutrition, fitness and health major. Students taking the course will meet with clients on a weekly basis for 30-60 minutes under the supervision of a registered dietitian. The program lasts eight weeks, and weekly meetings will be held beginning Feb. 17 in the Ismail Center in Lambert Fieldhouse.

Students also will schedule four unsupervised personal training sessions of 30-60 minutes with their clients throughout the semester. All information obtained during the semester will be kept confidential.

The program is being offered to adults age 18 and older who live in greater Lafayette. Those who would like more information about the program or who are interested in participating should contact Whitney Sweat, coordinator, by Jan. 6 at wsweat@purdue.edu.
