Faculty and staff host events to help United Way

Purdue faculty and staff are holding campus-wide activities to raise money for the 2013 United Way campaign.
* The Agronomy Department is hosting a hot dog lunch at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 11 on the front lawn of Lilly Hall. The meal is $5 and includes two hot dogs, chips and a cookie. Anyone who brings a pledge card will receive a treat.
* Cary Quadrangle and Meredith Hall will host a bake sale Oct. 12 at the Cary Quad West Loading Dock on Beering Drive across from Ford Dining Court. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and last through the Purdue vs. Nebraska football game.
* Purdue Extended Campus is hosting a media sale Oct. 16 in Stewart Center, Room 107. Items for sale include books, CDs and DVDs. The event is open to students, faculty and staff.
* The HHS Student Services Department is holding a bake sale Oct. 17. The event will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Matthews Hall, Room 126, and is open to the University. The bake sale will continue Oct 18 if not all items have been sold.
Activities within units
United Way fundraising activities are also being held within University departments.
* First Street Towers is selling tamales to residence hall staff for $1 per tamale. Orders should be placed by Thursday (Oct. 3). Tamales can be picked up between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Friday (Oct. 4) at the back dock of Meredith Hall.
* HHS Student Services is holding a “Wear Your Team Apparel Day” on Oct. 11. Department members who donate to the United Way donation jar on Jennifer Highland’s desk in Matthews Hall, Room 126 can wear their favorite team’s jersey to work that day. The department is also holding a drawing for prizes from Oct. 21-25.
* Purdue Extended Campus is holding a department chili cook-off Oct. 11 and a silent auction Nov. 7-8. Department faculty and staff can also give a donation to participate in jean days on Oct. 11, Nov. 1, Nov. 8 and Nov. 22.
* The Department of Educational Studies and the Department of Curriculum & Instruction in the College of Education are holding a candy bar sale throughout the UW campaign. Faculty and staff from these departments can purchase a candy bar from any of the team captains.
* The Office of Financial Aid, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, the bus office of Physical Facilities and the chemistry bus procurement office in the College of Science are holding drawings for employees in their respective offices who have turned in pledge cards. All give-a-way items are donated.
* The College of Agriculture is giving 2014 Purdue University Service Learning group calendars to those who give goodwill donations to UW. Each month of the calendar features a Purdue faculty member’s service learning project. The College of Agriculture is also holding a weekly prize drawing for those who make donations. All proceeds will go to the United Way campaign.
The deadline to pledge or make a donation to United Way is Nov. 13.
