Center for Healthy Living workshops to focus on healthy eating, physical activity

Faculty and staff can learn tips for healthy midday eating and strategies for increasing their physical activity at June workshops offered by the Center for Healthy Living (CHL). To register for the workshops, call Amber Simons, wellness coordinator at 49-46475. Limited seats are available.

Building a Better Lunch
June 5. 12:10-12:50 p.m. CHL, Conference Room 137.
Presenter: Rosemary Benjamin, registered dietitian
Do you feel like you're in a lunchtime routine rut? Are you grabbing items at the last minute from your cabinets or pulling through the closest drive-thru? Hear about nutrition from the ground up, calorie balancing and the MyPyramid tool. Learn criteria for building a better lunch, techniques on portion control and tools for healthier dining out.

Physical Activity for Optimal Health
June 18. 12:10-12:50 p.m. CHL, Conference Room 137.
Presenter: Suzanne Rossiter, RN health coach
Need to find some extra motivation to jump-start your physical activity? Don't know where to begin? Learn the benefits of various types of physical activity and learn strategies for cardio, strength building and stretching. The discussion will include guidance on how to get started, goal setting and safety techniques to practice.

The workshops will be at the Center for Healthy Living, located in the Purdue West Shopping Center at 1400 W. State St. Parking is available on site, and no permit is needed.
