This information draws on Physical Facilities' online reports. A summary of construction, including maps, is at https://www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/construction_notices.html with links to individual construction notices. Physical Facilities updates this information regularly and recommends not relying on information more than two weeks old. Weather conditions and other factors play a significant role in progress on projects.
Temporary change in Sheetz Street parking
The street parking along Sheetz Street on the west side of Hawkins Hall will temporarily change to a 30-minute loading zone area Thursday-Sunday (Aug. 16-19) to help accommodate students moving into the hall.
Landscaping at Northwestern and Stadium begins Tuesday
From Tuesday to Thursday (Aug. 14-16), crews will be landscaping the island in the northwest corner of the intersection of Northwestern Avenue and Stadium Avenue. Motorists are asked to slow down, use caution in the area and adhere to any posted signs.
US 231 chip seal project begins today
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces maintenance crews will begin a pavement preservation project on US 231 Monday (Aug. 13). US 231 between US 52 and I-65 will be chip sealed. Traffic will be controlled by arrow boards and flagmen in the area they will be working. Work on the roadway is scheduled to last through Thursday (Aug. 16). The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather.
Drivers should exercise caution during the construction of these projects. Loose stone will be present on the roadway during the initial cure of the asphalt and can damage windshields and paint on vehicles following each other too closely. It is recommended when travelling on a recently chip-sealed road to slow down and allow additional space between vehicles. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, visit www.in.gov/indot.
