Proposals sought as part of engagement efforts with India

August 22, 2012

The Office of Engagement is seeking proposals from faculty to foster research, education and business development anchors in India. The deadline to submit a proposal is 5 p.m. Aug. 31.

The call for proposals is part of Purdue's institutionwide strategy for engaging with India. Roundtable discussions were held during the 2011-12 academic year to develop an agenda for engagement efforts, and a survey of faculty was conducted in spring 2012 to identify existing collaborations with Indian institutions.

"We discovered that Purdue already has a healthy level of interactions in India, with 80 partnerships at 44 institutions," says Suresh Garimella, associate vice president for engagement. "We also found that there is also a strong interest in collaborating even further, and now we are looking to our faculty for ideas on strengthening these relationships."

Internal funding is available to support travel and workshop expenses associated with expanding partnerships with Indian institutions. Funds may be requested for other activities that support the proposed effort, but should be adequately justified.

Awards are expected to range from $5,000 to $20,000, but each budget will be evaluated for a match with the stated goals of the proposed activity.

Proposal guidelines and submission instructions are available in a PDF file.
