Church youth conference bringing 2,600 to campus
July 9, 2012
On Tuesday (July 10), about 2,600 youth and adults will come to Purdue's West Lafayette campus to participate in a four-day United Church of Christ conference called National Youth Event (NYE) 2012.
To keep the conference environmentally friendly, participants will not possess printed schedules or maps while on campus. Instead, participants have been encouraged to download necessary information, including a Purdue smartphone app, before arriving.
Purdue's Conference Division will assist participants with summer programming maps and large reference signage, but everyone on campus is encouraged to help participants with directions if needed.
Participants will be wearing required name badges during the conference.
Aimed at helping young adults learn about leadership, mission and faith formation, the conference includes workshops that will take place in several buildings in the heart of campus.
Participants will arrive on campus around noon Tuesday. On subsequent days, activities and workshops typically will begin at 7 a.m. and will end at 11:30 p.m. Participants will leave campus Saturday morning.
To help the event run smoothly, Purdue Conferences is working with Purdue's residence halls, Transportation Service, the Division of Recreational Sports, University Residences Dining Services, the Purdue Memorial Union, the Union Club Hotel, Physical Facilities and Audio Visual Services.
