Walking club at Purdue Fort Wayne offers opportunities for movement and connection

The Center for Healthy Living (CHL) is offering a new way to incorporate movement and social connection into the workday through the PFW Walking Club, a pilot program at Purdue University Fort Wayne.

Designed to encourage healthy habits through regular walking, the program offers a supportive environment for faculty and staff with access to the Purdue Fort Wayne campus to get active, connect with others and take a midday break.

Sessions take place Tuesdays and Thursdays, excluding the week of Thanksgiving, from noon to 1 p.m. ET through Dec. 17 at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center’s second-floor walking track. Each session begins with a brief warmup, and participants are welcome to walk at their own pace for as much or as little of the hour as they choose.

What’s next?

Those interested in participating can register online for the weeks they would like to attend. Registration includes a participation waiver that can be completed electronically.

Providing an opportunity to prioritize well-being while building connections with others, the program supports the physical health and social wellness pillars of Purdue’s Your Path Wellness Program.  Additionally, employees at the Fort Wayne campus can find the walking club on the Your Path Portal.
