Beyond medical coverage: Learn how supplemental benefits can help with unexpected costs

With open enrollment for 2027 benefits approaching, benefits-eligible employees have an opportunity to take a closer look at coverage that can provide added financial support when an unexpected illness, injury or hospital stay occurs.

Securian, Purdue University’s administrator of accident insurance, critical illness insurance and supplemental hospital insurance, also known as hospital indemnity insurance, will offer two virtual sessions of its “Understanding Your Supplemental Health Benefits” webinar ahead of open enrollment.

These voluntary benefits are designed to complement primary medical insurance by providing additional financial protection when certain covered medical events occur. The webinar will help employees better understand how each type of coverage works and consider whether it fits their individual or family needs.

Securian representatives will cover:

  • How accident, critical illness and supplemental hospital insurance work
  • Coverage details and benefit amounts
  • Costs and available resources
  • How to enroll during open enrollment
  • Answers to employee questions during a live Q&A

Two sessions are available:
