Purdue University on Wednesday (July 29) shared how it will support international students and scholars in anticipation of a new federal immigration rule that will affect the procedures Purdue’s international students, scholars and their dependents must follow while pursuing their studies or working at the university.

The new rule, which takes effect Sept. 15, was published July 17 by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and replaces “duration of status” with a fixed period of admission to the U.S.

To ensure a smooth transition to these new regulations, Purdue’s International Student Services and International Scholar Services launched a Federal Immigration Updates webpage. International students and scholars are encouraged to regularly visit this webpage for updates as well as details about the new rule, answers to FAQs and other information.

In addition, people at any Purdue location can contact International Student Services or International Scholar Services to discuss their specific situations and needs.
