One Hour with HR returns with new career-focused learning tracks

Human Resources’ popular One Hour with HR series is returning in August with a new approach. This monthly virtual professional development opportunity will still offer practical learning — but now it’s organized into four themes to make it easier for employees to find what’s most relevant for their career journey and to see how topics connect across the year.

The four themes include:

  • Work More Effectively — practical tools for focus, productivity and everyday impact
  • Grow Intentionally — strategies for career development, skill-building and expanding your influence
  • Collaborate Meaningfully — habits and mindsets for stronger teams, trust and navigating change
  • Engage and Contribute — how you show up as an individual, including recognizing peers and contributing to workplace culture

The sessions, open to all Purdue employees, will also map to specific competencies, making it simple to know both the topic and the skills it will help develop.

“We wanted employees to be able to look at the lineup and immediately find what’s relevant to where they are right now,” said Brenda Coulson, senior director of talent management, human resources. “No matter where you are in your career at Purdue, there’s something here for you.”

The One Hour with HR series kicks off Aug. 27 with “Building Trust at Work.” Trust is one of the most important foundations for effective collaboration, communication and workplace relationships. In this interactive session, participants will explore practical behaviors to build trust at work and consider how those behaviors show up in everyday interactions. Learners will leave with a simple, actionable trust-building practice they can apply to strengthen credibility, repair missteps and contribute to a more connected work environment.

Register for sessions through SuccessFactors Learning. Once registered, a Microsoft Teams link for the session will be sent in a separate email.

The full schedule of sessions is available online. Reach out to teclearning@purdue.edu with training requests.

Recordings of all 2026 One Hour with HR sessions are available on demand on the One Hour with HR webpage.
