This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

Red brick campus building, snow-covered tree

Kaitlin St. Louis and Andrew Millican

Thank you, Kaitlin and Andrew (both Purdue Systems Security), for all your hard work on creating, testing and implementing the TransD for the university. Your dedication to this project is truly appreciated! — Shannon Sauro (Purdue Systems Security)

Corey Spear

Corey (Operations and Maintenance) in the Welding Shop came in clutch for us in Airport Operations with some urgent repairs to our snow removal fleet. Without his dedication and hard work, we would have had at least two vehicles unavailable for any inclement weather that comes our way in the next couple of weeks. Corey is a great example of Purdue grit, and I’m glad to have him as a part of our team. — Chris Morris (Airport Operations)

Shane Haselby, Dave Miskin, Annette Robbins and Billy Spurlock

We wanted to send a “Thumbs Up” to Shane, Dave, Annette and Billy (all Building Services) for joining us the snowy weekend before winter recess. They were not scared to put their gloves on and join the rest of the team present in helping to shovel and salt. We really appreciated seeing the supervisors, general manager and building services director out with us. This helped motivate us and showed the kind of leadership they present, working hard next to us. Thank you for giving us the motivation to work hard every day like you guys! — Laura Estrada and Eddie Tovar (both Building Services)

Groundskeepers who helped prepare for winter commencement

Brittany Jacobson, Sterling Bundy, Dylan Dorton, Jacob Adams, Daniel Hernandez, Keaton Healy, Micah Prather, John Kaufman and Tyler Galema in the Grounds Department helped clear leaves and debris for winter commencement. In just three days’ time, we all pulled together and covered larger areas of leaves and debris near Loeb Fountain; Stone, Matthews, Beering and Felix Haas halls; the Armory; the Psychological Sciences Building; and 80% of Memorial Mall. Each and every one of them were wearing their safety gear and were attentive to their surroundings and others in the area. Each one of them did it with pride and as a team! That in itself is hard to find, but they all make an amazing team. Their hearts were in it and focused on getting as much done as possible. As the safety team leader, I would like to recognize all of them for their amazing talent and the light they bring to our department and throughout the campus! Job well done, team. — Nicole Begin (Grounds)

Eduardo Tovar Lopez and his scrub and wax team

Eddie, Alex Serrano, Lizbeth Garfias, Juana Marquez, Michael McClimans, Dave Ocker, Rhoda Spear, Margarita Villa, Laura Estrada, Alex Figueroa, Ruby Figueroa, Andrea Ortega, Gabriela Gutierrez and Maria Gaeta went above and beyond to make our retiring facility manager’s dream come true. He could practically see his reflection in the penthouse floor that they spent many hours scrubbing and waxing. Your hard work is greatly appreciated! — Michelle Radtke (Birck Nanotechnology Center)
