University Residences night access clerks

It takes an entire university to kick off a new semester, but the UR night access clerks have an important role year-round. They work in the residence halls overnight and are there to help when someone wants to borrow a board game, gets locked out of their room or is up late feeling a little homesick. Seldom is their work more important than during move-in, when they help check in residents who arrive after midnight due to missed flights, travel plans that went awry or confusion about time zones. They provide directions, answer questions and help get the new residents where they need to be. A sincere thank-you to Alissa Cantu, Almira Cantu, Athula Bulathsinhala, Gin Kuyoth, Jackie Prather, Lisa Vandeventer, Lunaris Greene, Martha Williams, Mooneye Greene, Nimal Karunaratne, Nishan Arachchi, Neil McCartney, Patrick Ray, Punnaka Madawala, Renuka Obeyesekera, Suneetha Abeysiriwardana, and the night access coordinator, Carla Easton. — Mark Layman (Residential Housing Operations)

Molly Synesael

Congratulations to Molly (Pharmacy) for planning and implementing her first Pharmacy Fair for high school students. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from prospective students and their families. The day was organized, educational, energetic and fun! Thank you for planning an event that represented our college and university so well! — Steve Myszak (Pharmacy)

Karla Cunningham, Miranda Jack and Kate Layman

Thank you, Karla, Miranda and Kate (all Exploratory Studies), for all you’ve done this past year to make EDPS 105 (Academic and Career Planning) happen. From the student content to the new training and the weekly meetings, you’ve helped so much. I couldn’t do it without you. You ladies are the best! — Mary Beth Lencke (Exploratory Studies)

Greg Meyer

Thank you to Greg (Operations and Maintenance) for making our purity boards. We wouldn’t have such fantastic boxes without his dedicated and hard work. — Office of Indiana State Chemist — Seed Lab

Gus Nance

I just wanted to give a shoutout to Gus (Cary Quad Resident Activities), who was on call this past weekend for Residential Life in relation to calls to facilities. He did awesome, and I appreciated all the communication and help he provided. Thank you, Gus! — Shellie Lawson (Residential Housing Operations)

Josh Boyd

The Purdue Academic Advising Association extends a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Boyd (Communication), professor in the Lamb School, for leading today’s workshop on communication tensions. Your insights helped us reflect on how we navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with the ways we connect with students, colleagues and our community. We are grateful for the time, expertise and humor you shared with us, and we look forward to putting these strategies into practice in our daily work. — Ayrielle Espinosa (Mitch Daniels School of Business)

Trevor Miller and Brandon Stephens

I want to applaud and thank Trevor and Brandon (both Operations and Maintenance) for their recent diligence on diagnosing and fixing the cause of the copy center being too warm. It took a lot of trial and error and head-scratching, but they got it! And I’ve got cool air again! In addition, Brandon pressure washed the two fan coil unit grilles, and Trevor installed a new air filter. Thank you also for communicating well with me during the days of trial. — Tom Brown (Mitch Daniels School of Business)

Sue Provo

Sue (Administrative Services), we are so very grateful for your dedication and the countless ways you go above and beyond to help us. Everything runs so smoothly when you’re involved, whether it’s delivering heavy items right to our office, setting up tables, opening spaces or even finding a spot to keep refreshments cold. You’re always available, always on top of things and always willing to lend a hand. You are truly a lifesaver, and we deeply appreciate all that you do to support us. — Beth Smith and Sarah Johnson (both Purdue Global)

Matthew Bowers

I would like to recognize Matt (Financial Aid), one of the Division of Financial Aid’s resident tech and systems experts. With new staff members entering our systems, Matt and his team have been invaluable in making sure they have the access and knowledge they need to do their jobs correctly and efficiently. He’s always open to questions and always good for a great laugh. We’re lucky to have him! — Tessa Winkler (Financial Aid)
