STAR Program invites applications for professional development opportunity

Human Resources is pleased to partner with Campus Support Staff Advisory Committee’s Professional Development Committee to offer the STAR (Strategic Training and Resources) Program, a dynamic professional development program created to empower growth for employees in the professional, operational support and skilled trades career streams.

Applications for the fall session of the program, which will establish a 25-person cohort, opened Sept. 25 and will be accepted through Oct. 10. The program starts Oct. 21.

Participants must be employed at Purdue for a minimum of one year prior to applying. Management-level employees are not eligible for this program but are encouraged to participate in the supervisor training.

The application will be completed via Docusign. For instructions on accessing it, please review this Quick Reference Guide. Participants will choose a learning area and an achievement level related to their career progression.

About the program

The program is primarily virtual, and the learning will be completed at participants’ convenience. The cohort will meet for orientation from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 21. In addition, three 30-minute virtual check-ins will be scheduled.

The goals for participants of the program are to:

  • expand workforce staff capabilities to accelerate career growth and advancement
  • embark on a collaborative learning journey and gain knowledge, skills and competencies, all personalized to individual mastery levels
  • encounter new people, opportunities and resources designed to position them for a successful future

For more details, visit the program’s webpage. Please carefully review the learning framework and select a pillar and achievement level that best suits your career development goals.

The program will be offered quarterly; the application window for each new quarter will be announced via Purdue Today and Business@Purdue News.

Any questions about the program can be directed to OEStar@purdue.edu.
