Upcoming Healthy Boiler workshop focuses on strength training; register by April 29

As part of the Healthy Boiler workshop series, a four-week virtual strength training program will be offered each Tuesday from May 6-27. “121 Strong” takes place from noon to 1 p.m. ET and supports the physical health pillar of the Healthy Boiler Program.

“The program is designed to teach the fundamentals of resistance training and guide participants as they create individualized resistance training programs that are realistic, manageable and will contribute to their overall health and fitness goals,” said Lindsay Bloom, the employee wellness coach at Purdue Fort Wayne who will be leading the sessions.

Each class will include both an educational and active component, and participants will be encouraged to meet with a CHL health coach for a pre- and postprogram InBody assessment. The InBody scale uses patented bioelectrical impedance technology to measure the entire body in five different segments — right arm, left arm, torso, right leg and left leg. Results will show individuals the distribution of fat, water and muscle in their bodies.

Those interested should register by April 29via the Healthy Boiler Portal. The registration link can be found under the “Healthy Boiler Workshops” section on the portal’s homepage. Hover over the “121 Strong” square and hit square and click on the information “i” to register.

Healthy Boiler workshops are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and their dependents.
