Students, staff and faculty invited to participate in Love Data Week

Purdue is gearing up for the Big Ten Academic Alliance Data Viz Championship during Love Data Week, scheduled from Feb. 10-14. This unique competition invites Purdue students, staff and faculty to showcase their data visualization skills and vie for the prestigious title of BTAA Data Viz champion. 

What is the BTAA Data Viz Championship? 

The Data Viz Championship offers the Purdue community a chance to showcase their data visualization skills. Students can explore the complexities of a National Parks Visit dataset and faculty/staff members can present existing visualization related to Purdue.

How to Participate 

Visit the competition website for additional details and links to enter the competition. 

Staff/Faculty

  • Share the Opportunity: Encourage students and colleagues to participate. 
  • Challenge: Submit existing visualizations related to Purdue. Ensure that submissions follow institutional data policies and are publicly available on the web for the challenge’s duration. 
  • Timeline: Must be submitted by Jan. 24.
  • Winning Opportunities: One visualization will be selected to represent Purdue in the larger BTAA Data Viz Championship, offering bragging rights within Purdue and the broader Big Ten community. 

Students 

  • Challenge: Individuals or teams of two can participate. 
  • Timeline: Visualizations using the National Parks Visit Dataset, must be submitted by midnight on Jan. 22. 
  • Winning Opportunities: Purdue students have the chance to win cash prizes up to $1,000 and advance to the BTAA Championship. 

Purdue winners will be announced the week of Jan. 27. Voting information will be shared on the competition website when available. For more information or questions, contact idata@purdue.edu.
