April webinar for authors to feature Purdue Press

Faculty and staff are invited to attend a webinar for prospective Purdue authors co-sponsored by the Libraries and School of Information Studies and the Purdue Books Initiative. Justin Race, director of Purdue University Press, will speak from 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 8. During the webinar, participants will hear about the Purdue Press publishing philosophy, process for acquiring a project, details on contracts and production process. Ample time will be allowed for questions from prospective authors.

In addition to his role as Purdue Press director, Race serves as the head of scholarly publishing services. Before joining Purdue, he was director of the University of Nevada Press. Race began his publishing career in 2010 as an acquisitions editor with Rowman and Littlefield Publishing Group. During his 15-year career, he has acquired books in diverse fields including fiction, memoirs, engineering and astronautics.

Purdue University Press publishes scholarly works that align with the university’s strengths and supports Purdue’s mission to serve Indiana, the nation and the world. Purdue Press plays a key role in the university’s Books Initiative and publishes dozens of new books and journals each year, many of which are freely available as open access. The webinar series is designed to help new and prospective authors connect with publishing houses and bring their projects from concept to ISBN in record time.
