PUPD to offer free active threat training in December

The Purdue University Police Department offers free, in-person training classes for potential active threat events and for civilians to render aid to control bleeding of injured persons.

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) class provides strategies, guidance and plan options for surviving an active threat event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options and advance preparation for a response. CRASE was designed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training in 2004.

The sessions are:

Dec. 3 (Tuesday): 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Location: Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts, Mallett Theatre

Dec. 3 (Tuesday): 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Location: Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts, Room 1197

Dec. 5 (Thursday): 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Location: Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts, Mallett Theatre

Dec. 9 (Monday): 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Location: Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts, Room 1197

Dec. 19 (Thursday): 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

Location: Wilmeth Active Learning Center, Room 1132

Dec. 19 (Thursday): 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Location: Wilmeth Active Learning Center, Room 1132

To register for any of these sessions, contact Lt. Sarah Clark at sclark32@purdue.edu and indicate your preferred session when registering. Affiliation with Purdue is not required to register; however, priority will be given to Purdue faculty, staff, students and affiliates.
