President Chiang receives 2025 IEEE Founders Medal

Mung Chiang, Purdue University president and the Roscoe H. George Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2025 IEEE Founders Medal.

Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest technical professional organization with 460,000 members, “dedicated to fostering and advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.” The Founders Medal has been awarded since 1953 to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions in the leadership, planning and administration of affairs to the electrical and electronics engineering profession. Chiang was selected for his “outstanding leadership spanning academia, industry and government, propelling advances in communication networks, semiconductor manufacturing, and international cooperation in advanced technologies.”

Previous IEEE Founders Medalists include CEOs of Google and NVIDIA, founders of Intel and Sony, and presidents of MIT, Stanford, and Georgia Tech. Chiang will be honored with the award in April 2025 at the IEEE Vision, Innovation and Challenges Summit and Honors Ceremony in Japan.
