President Chiang inducted into American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Purdue President and Roscoe H. George Distinguished Professor Mung Chaing signs the Book of Members at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences induction ceremony on Sept. 21.

Purdue President and Roscoe H. George Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Mung Chiang was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences on Sept. 21. Founded in 1780, the academy honors excellence and convenes leaders from every field of human endeavor to examine new ideas, address issues of importance to the nation and the world, and work together.

Chiang was elected to the Class of Mathematical and Physical Sciences in the area of Engineering and Technology. There are currently 11 Purdue-affiliated members in the American Academy of Arts and Science.
