This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

A sidewalk on the Purdue University campus

Jessie Arnold

Jessie Arnold (Sponsored Program Services): Jessie was crucial in helping us complete our APR. Due to reasons beyond her control, there was a lot of back-and-forth on the report, and she worked continuously to make sure we were able to successfully submit the report. Thank you, Jessie! — Stacey Beyer (Finance)

Jessica Harvey, Tanner Buffenbarger, Laura Lange, Samuel Brown and Bill Helton

Jessica Harvey, Tanner Buffenbarger, Laura Lange, Samuel Brown and Bill Helton (all Purdue IT): I’d like to recognize Jessica Harvey, Tanner Buffenbarger, Laura Lange, Samuel Brown and Bill Helton for their outstanding support in executing a time-sensitive request for classified computer support. This machine allowed PARI to host cleared defense contractors and pursue contracts for national defense. It also increased the capacity for classified computing at Purdue. Thanks again to all. — Christopher Allen (Purdue IT)

Carmen Williams

Carmen Williams (Recreation and Wellness): Carmen has been doing an outstanding job at the Co-Rec, particularly in her efforts to address food insecurity among students. Her dedication to ensuring that all students have access to nutritious meals has made a significant impact on our campus community. Carmen’s support and compassion have alleviated immediate needs and fostered a sense of belonging and security for many students. — Tessa Winkler (Office of the Dean of Students)

Garth Golleher

Garth Golleher (Materials Management Administration): I want to acknowledge Garth at Purdue’s Materials Management Distribution Center for going the extra mile when a damaged shipment arrived before reaching our department. He efficiently documented it, filed a claim and took pictures, and also sent me an email with attached PDFs. Thanks to his efforts, all processes ran smoothly for both us and our vendor. The damaged items were quickly shipped back, and the vendor is now sending the replacement item to us earlier than expected. I’m very pleased. Thank you, Garth! — Daniela Green (Purdue IT)

Kristine Brewer

Kristine Brewer (Mathematics): Kristy has been an amazing support and resource for me while starting in a new position. I appreciate her patience and the time she has taken to help me. — Amanda Taylor (Statistics)

Karla Sicaju

Karla Sicaju (Statistics): Karla has been amazing at helping me figure out my way through the start of my new position. She is always willing to help out to get things done or find answers. Thank you, Karla, for being an awesome co-worker. I’m so glad to have you on my team! — Amanda Taylor (Statistics)

Steve Clingenpeel

Steve Clingenpeel (Operations and Maintenance): Steve worked his behind off getting our refrigeration units up and running after being powered off all summer. This job was much more difficult than flipping a switch. Steve installed new seals, fabricated parts and made corrections. Steve also made a suggestion that will make it easier for us to move product in and out of the freezer. Thank you, Steve! — Eric Coates (Hillenbrand Dining)
