Purdue ROTC cadets, active-duty members, veterans, first responders, and Purdue and Greater Lafayette community members came together Wednesday (Sept. 11) for the 9/11 Memorial Steps of Sacrifice event at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Participants ran the stadium stairs for one hour and 42 minutes, representing the time between when the first plane hit the World Trade Center towers and the collapse of the second tower. The goal was to complete the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs, paying tribute to the brave first responders who climbed the towers.

President Emeritus Mitch Daniels also gave remarks at the event.

Donations are being accepted as part of the event to go toward an ROTC scholarship in memory of the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
