PUPD to offer free active threat training in July, August

The Purdue University Police Department offers free, in-person training classes for potential active shooter/threat events.

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) class provides strategies, guidance and plan options for surviving an active threat event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, and preparing in advance what your response will be. CRASE was designed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training in 2004.

The upcoming sessions are:

  • Monday, July 22: 9:30-11: 30 a.m., in KRAN G016 (Krannert Building, 403 Mitch Daniels Blvd.)
  • Friday, July 26: 2-4 p.m., in WALC 1132 (Wilmeth Active Learning Center, 340 Centennial Mall Dr.)
  • Wednesday, July 31: 1:30-3:30 p.m., in BRNG B222 (Beering Hall of Liberal Arts and Education, 100 N. University St.)
  • Tuesday, Aug. 13: 9:30- 11:30 a.m., in RAWLS 1011 (Rawls Hall, 100 S. Grant St.)

To register for one of these sessions, contact Lt. Sarah Clark at sclark32@purdue.edu. Indicate the preferred session(s) when registering.

Affiliation with Purdue is not required to register; however, priority will be given to Purdue faculty, staff, students and affiliates.
