The New@Purdue Employee Experience Program for newly hired staff members will deploy Aug. 1 across the West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses.

This comprehensive program is designed to engage and fully integrate employees from the onset of the recruiting cycle throughout the entire first year of employment. The program is a one-stop shop for all things related to onboarding staff members, and it helps new hires by integrating advocacy, enrichment and professional development through mentoring and coaching.

Faculty, students and temporary employees do not participate in New@Purdue; however, faculty who supervise staff will participate in the New@Purdue Administrator Program and should attend training.

The pilot program began in August 2022 with several areas, including Administrative Operations, the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business, Purdue University Online, Libraries and Finance. More than 400 new employees participated in the pilot.

Linda Baer, director of organizational effectiveness in Human Resources, discussed the New@Purdue onboarding program for new staff members at several leadership meetings across campus.

“Participants in the pilot have found the mentoring aspect of the program, as well as the coaching meetings with their supervisor, very beneficial,” Baer says. “We’re looking forward to bringing the program to all our new employees and enhancing their welcome to Purdue.”

Supervisors and those considered onboarding coordinators are asked to attend a brief training to learn more about this program and how to support new hires.
