Peroulis, Woo named chairs of 2024 Purdue United Way campaign
Following a successful 2023 Purdue United Way campaign, Purdue University has selected Dimitrios Peroulis and Sang Eun Woo to lead the 2024 effort as chair and vice chair.
Purdue United Way leaders and volunteers look forward to continuing the momentum from last year’s campaign, which surpassed its $700,000 goal, increased the number of donors and established the largest local campaign for employee giving. The effort raised $718,966 for local nonprofit organizations.
Peroulis, senior vice president for partnerships and online and the Reilly Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, says he’s eager for the opportunity to serve as chair and advance Purdue United Way’s longtime commitment to the community he’s been a part of for more than 20 years.
“It is a great honor to serve our community in a small but special way this year,” Peroulis says. “United Way is a living example of how communities that come together can become change agents with lasting impact. This is what is so inspiring to me. I look forward to discovering more opportunities so that we, as part of the Purdue family and history, further elevate everyone through United Way.”
As one of the largest collective contributors to the United Way of Greater Lafayette campaign, Purdue United Way helps support 27 local agencies that address essential needs like food insecurity, shelter and mental health.
Woo, chair of the Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership and Excellence and a professor of industrial-organizational psychology in the College of Health and Human Sciences, says she’s excited to see the Purdue community band together to support this year’s campaign.
“I love seeing how friends and colleagues in the Purdue community rally together to make a positive difference in our local community,” Woo says. “Every single one of us has this desire to contribute to something that is bigger than ourselves. Giving to the local nonprofit organizations is probably one of the most tangible and practical ways to improve the greater good, and the energy that we gain from practicing generosity stays with us — spilling over to our day-to-day experience of purpose, meaning and well-being.”
