August 18, 2011

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - WBAA Public Radio from Purdue will host a membership drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 25) along the Hello Walk on the Memorial Mall.

The WBAA MemberCard will be offered at half the usual contribution level - $60 for general memberships and $30 for students. With the WBAA MemberCard, users can take advantage of two-for-one dining, lodging, entertainment and shopping discounts in the area.

"For the first time ever, we are offering a student membership at a reduced rate with additional, exclusive student-oriented benefits," said WBAA membership and events manager Christine Perrin.

WBAA staff members and volunteers will be present to process new and renewing memberships. Purdue employees can contribute through payroll deduction, and forms will be available.

Representatives also will demonstrate WBAA's newest Android, iPhone and iPad apps, which feature live streaming with DVR-like controls (pause, rewind and fast forward). Additional features in WBAA Apps allow listeners to easily share stories and programs with family and friends via the "Share" button.

WBAA is a non-profit, listener-supported radio station. Individual and business contributions are necessary to support the station's programming cost.
