WBAA makes apps available on iTunes
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - WBAA listeners can now add free smartphone apps that are available for the Android at the Android Marketplace and for the iPhone or iPad from iTunes.
The WBAA apps feature live streaming with DVR-like controls (pause, rewind and fast forward).
"Users can pause the live stream to have a conversation and pick up right where they left off, or you can rewind to catch a comment you just missed," said WBAA general manager Tim Singleton. "Integrated into the WBAA apps are the program schedules for WBAA AM, FM and HD, which allows users to click on the schedule and streaming of that program starts almost immediately."
The on-demand feature allows quick and easy access to more than 300 public radio programs from multiple content providers, including NPR, PRI, APM and WBAA.
When listening to national programs, individual story segments (when available) are listed so users can review and choose one or listen to the entire program. The WBAA app displays the webpage page associated with the program or story segment so listeners can access additional information.
Users also can save live or on-demand content for replay, follow-up or sharing later by simply clicking "Bookmark." The "Search Public Radio" feature finds stories or programs across hundreds of stations and webpages for easy retrieval and playing. Additional features allow listeners to easily share stories and programs with family and friends via the "Share" button.
"And there is a built-in sleep timer and alarm clock that allows you to go to sleep and wake up to your favorite station," Singleton said.
