June 25, 2015
Two former two-term Indiana governors -- Purdue President Mitch Daniels and Evan Bayh, both known for their fiscal policies -- will receive the 2015 Paul E. Tsongas Economic Patriot Award this evening (June 25) from the Concord Coalition.
The award ceremony will be at 8:15 p.m. at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. After the presentation, Daniels and Bayh will participate in a panel discussion on U.S. fiscal and economic challenges.
Daniels was governor from 2005 to 2013 after service as director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget in 2001-03. Bayh's terms as governor ran from 1989 to 1997. He then was a U.S. senator from 1999 to 2011.
Tsongas also was a U.S. senator (1979-85) known for his attention to the federal budget deficit, and he co-founded the Concord Coalition. He died in 1997.
