INDIANAPOLIS — In an effort to meet the demands of a growing enrollment in Indianapolis, Purdue University has acquired the property at 518-520 Indiana Ave., formerly the home of Schultz & Pogue LLP and BrewLogix.

The two-story facility, located at the intersection of West Street and Indiana Avenue, will allow Purdue to address merging near-term student support and other space needs in Indianapolis.

Since formally launching its first urban expansion last July, Purdue has been focused on increasing its footprint in Indianapolis while working and engaging with neighborhood partners. The exterior facades and integrity of the property, situated in the heart of the Indiana Avenue Historic District and facing the iconic Madam Walker Legacy Center, will remain intact.

“The acquisition of 518-520 Indiana Ave. creates essential space for our students, faculty, staff and neighbors to utilize,” said Evan Hawkins, Purdue senior director of administrative operations in Indianapolis. “We are mindful of the tremendous history of the neighborhood, and especially the significance of this particular property. Though this property will help us respond to near-term space constraints, we very much look forward to working with our neighbors, community partners and the city to define the long-term vision of this property as well as our future campus vision for Indianapolis.”

The acquisition is the latest addition to Purdue’s growing footprint in Indianapolis, the centerpiece of which will be the future Academic Success Building, a projected 248,000-square-foot facility set to be built near the intersection of Michigan and West streets. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held April 2, and the building is scheduled to open in 2027.
