Welcome, Peng Li!

Peng Li

The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture is pleased to welcome Peng Li as a new graduate student starting this summer.

Originally from Harbin, China—known for its famous Ice and Snow Festival—Peng has lived in West Lafayette since 2014. She completed her undergraduate studies at China Agricultural University and Cornell University.

Peng is beginning a part-time PhD with Dr. Lori Hoagland, focusing on microbial biostimulants and the plant–soil microbiome. Her work aims to better understand how these products function and support informed industry innovation, practices and regulatory decisions.

In addition to her studies, Peng works full-time as an analytical chemist. Outside of work and school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, as well as gardening, cooking, church activities, and a good cup of tea.
