The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture welcomes Erin Percevault, Assistant Professor of Practice in Landscape Architecture.
Erin Percevault joins Purdue University as the Assistant Professor of Practice in Landscape Architecture. Before moving to the Midwest, she was based in New York City. She earned her professional degree, a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, from Louisiana State University, and her Master of Science in Environmental Management and Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Among the places Erin has lived and worked include New Jersey, south Louisiana, Italy, Bhutan, and Australia. Her practice has been strongly influenced by the study of cultural phenomena on design, ecosystem services, and land stewardship in rural and urban environments. She emphasizes thoughtful discourse, scientific inquiry, and creative spirit as critical aspects for the design of meaningful places in the face of increasing pressures from climate change and biodiversity loss. She is a licensed landscape architect (NYS) and a writer for the Landscape Architect Registration Examination, which assesses the ability of prospective licensees to protect public health, safety, and welfare. Her past built projects include on-structure landscapes, historic properties, farms, urban waterfronts, and cultural institutions, and have been featured by Architectural Record, Landscape Architecture Magazine, Landezine International, and the Cultural Landscape Foundation. Her professional and academic work has been recognized by the Landscape Architecture Foundation, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, and national and state chapters of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
