This Week at the Purdue Student Farm – HLA Happenings

This Week at the Purdue Student Farm

Closeup of flower.

Everyday this past week I have been happy to see the gorgeous cut flowers blooming brightly on the Farm, so I have included some photos for you all the enjoy as well. Aside from looking at pretty flowers this week we have had a wonderful time working and prepping for pickup this Friday. From planting, to weeding, to harvesting, to packing and every step in-between, we have kept busy. We’ve been lucky to have an extra helper around the farm, a sibling of one of the interns has been here experiencing the work and giving us an extra set of hands which has been a wonderful addition for the past week. We are happy to have the help as we are losing two people to their next exciting adventures. Raffi, who you will hear about soon will be headed off to the big world of higher education! Mason will be off to the big world of post-graduation! We are very excited for them to start these next big chapters of their lives, and all look forward to seeing what amazing things they do next.

Now something you all have to look forward to is this: next week is sweet pepper time! We will be harvesting and packing sweet peppers for you all next week. I know Jane is particularly looking forward to this as they have mentioned before, but it’s a common joy! But trust me there are plenty of things to look forward to in this week’s bag, from perfectly ripe peaches to a wide assortment of eggplant, and fresh tomatoes and plenty of flavorful and delicious peppers. Lots to try, lots to eat!
