“In the English Garden” Study Abroad students traveled  from Devizes to Stoke-on-Trent to Banbury this past week. The group explored the impressive castle remains at Kenilworth and the lovely gardens of Rousham Court. Chatsworth Estate and its gardens were immense and gorgeous, and one student may or may not have gotten “lost” walking the entire perimeter of the gardens—more than 5 miles. The group also learned about industrial history at Quarry Bank Mill, the first automated cotton thread and textile factory. A visit to Biddulph Grange introduced students to Victorian garden design, and in Stoke-on-Trent, the group toured Birkenhead Park, the precursor to New York City’s Central Park. On Tuesday, study abroad students visited Oxford, home to the oldest university system in the English-speaking world. The group has enjoyed beautiful weather while exploring and learning about these remarkable places.
