On July 10, 2025, HLA members Petrus Langenhoven (Vegetable Extension Specialist), Barrett Wilson (Hydroponic Research Operations Administrator), and Nathan Shoaf (Urban Agriculture Assistant Program Leader, Purdue Extension) had the unique opportunity to explore the cutting-edge world of vertical farming at 80 Acres Farms in Florence, Kentucky. Their guide? None other than 2019 HLA alumnus Alex Miller, who has grown his career alongside the crops he now oversees as the company’s subject matter expert for leafy crops.
