“The Meigs Horticulture Facility. One of Purdue’s Leading Vegetable and Fruit Crop Research Centers”
Abstract: Chloe Richard is the Horticultural Crops Research Manager at the Meigs Horticultural Facility, which is part of the Purdue University Throckmorton Agricultural Center. Meigs is home to many Purdue Faculty, Extension Specialists, staff, and students, implementing their research trials and educating students. Research projects at Meigs total between 30-50 projects annually, with involvement from 8 different academic departments. Meigs has 145 tillable acres set up for irrigation and 13 high tunnels. Meigs has a 4-acre Vineyard, 18-acre Apple orchard, and 16-acre certified organic field. Most of the research completed annually is on 15 different vegetable crops and cover crops.
