PhD in Nursing

Transform the science of healthcare

The Purdue University West Lafayette campus offers an on-site program to earn the Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD in Nursing) degree. One of only two PhD in Nursing programs in the state of Indiana, our campus-based program is designed to prepare the next generation of nurse scholars and scientists for a career in innovative and translational research. Graduates will possess the research, knowledge, and skills to collaborate with and lead transdisciplinary teams to address the grand challenges we are facing in healthcare.

The Purdue program was competitively selected for the Future of Nursing Scholars program, which provides scholarships, mentoring and leadership development activities through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. These scholars are funded for full-time study and complete their degree in three years.
