HTM'S Global Work Experience Program

The School of Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) at Purdue University is a global leader in hospitality and tourism education. One important element of the program is the experiential learning opportunities it provides students, both domestic and international.  Our goal is to share information that would assist international students in legally securing hospitality and tourism work experience while in the United States (US), and inform our industry partners on the legal and School requirements when recruiting and hiring international students currently enrolled in our program.

International Global Work Experience Seminar:

As of  Fall 2018, HTM will host an International Global Work Experience Seminar for undergraduate students pursuing our HTM programs at Purdue.  HTM Graduate (MS) Students are welcome to attend. A similar seminar will be held for HTM Graduate (MS) Students at the end of the fall semester.  The goal of the seminars is to assist domestic and international students in taking full advantage of experiential learning opportunities in the US and around the world. This seminar is optional for domestic students but mandatory for international students. In fact, international students in the HTM program are now required to attend at least one of these seminars during their time at Purdue.  Some information presented at this seminar will be repeated; however, new information may be shared each year. International Students who miss the seminar will be required to take a 10 question quiz and pass before being allowed to register for HTM 202/Work Experience and/or HTM 302 Internship.  The seminar will also provide students in HTM the opportunity to network with other students in the program from other parts of the world.
