Career Development
Develop the skills employers are seeking
Through a customized approach to professional development, the White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) can help you take your next giant leap toward the career of your dreams. From workshops to guest speakers to one-of-a-kind events, HTM champions a variety of resources that allow you to maximize your college experience as you develop invaluable career skills and networking opportunities.
Take charge of your future
You will be invited to a variety of unique events throughout the academic year to help you stand out to potential employers and advance your professional development. Each fall, the career center sponsors a school-wide career fair that provides opportunities to connect with companies that align with your career goals and secure internships or employment. HTM also curates the annual, week-long Spirit of Hospitality Summit, which brings in industry executives from around the world and offers students professional development through unique networking opportunities, an industry conference and a career fair. In addition to these larger-scale events, the career center also facilitates a variety of workshops, guest speakers, student roundtables and other events throughout the year. View all upcoming events on the College of Health and Human Sciences event calendar. You can also view upcoming events for the entire University on the Purdue University event calendar.
Connect with a mentor
We recognize the value mentorship can have in shaping your professional journey. The Ray Kavanaugh Career Center can help match you with a mentor in your area of career interest. For more information about HTM’s mentorship opportunities, send us an email at PurdueHTMCareerCenter@purdue.edu.
Learn from leaders in your field
We leverage every opportunity to bring industry leaders and students together, from large scale events to classroom settings. Each fall, HTM hosts its Executive in the Classroom speaker series to bring industry leaders into the classroom to help you connect to service industry trends and learn from the knowledge and experiences of real-life executives.
