WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Larissa Adamiec, clinical associate professor in financial counseling and planning in Purdue University’s White Lodging–J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, recently participated in the 39th Annual Economic Outlook Symposium held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

The annual symposium brought together economists, industry leaders, and policymakers to examine the forces shaping the U.S. economy as the nation looks ahead to 2026. Offered as a hybrid event, the program provided attendees with timely insights into economic trends, risks, and opportunities impacting businesses, households, and financial decision-making.

Highlights of the symposium included a fireside chat with Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee, who shared perspectives on current economic conditions and monetary policy considerations. Attendees also heard a consensus outlook for the U.S. economy presented by Thomas Walstrum, principal business economist at the Chicago Fed, drawing from insights gathered from conference participants.

Additional sessions featured industry leaders and Chicago Fed experts offering outlooks on key economic sectors, as well as analysis of labor market conditions. These discussions provided a comprehensive view of the economic landscape, equipping participants with data-driven perspectives relevant to both professional practice and academic instruction.
