Martin C. Jischke International Student of the Year Award

Purdue main campus faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate students for the Martin C. Jischke Outstanding International Student of the Year Award. This award was established by Purdue President Emeritus Jischke, to honor a Purdue student who has helped the University welcome and connect people of all cultures.

Candidates for this prestigious award may be nominated by faculty and staff based on student achievement and the following criteria:

  • Graduating senior who has attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0;
  • Scholarship (as evidenced by research, publications, or other achievements beyond the minimum cumulative GPA requirement);
  • Leadership;
  • Service (campus and community);
  • Character.
Graduating senior means a student who graduated or will graduate in December, May or August of the current academic year.

Past winners of this award have consistently demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, including strong GPAs and recognition through research, publications, and presentations. They have shown notable leadership through involvement in academic departments, student organizations, and campus initiatives. In addition, recipients have contributed meaningful service to the Purdue community, often through volunteer efforts and activities that strengthen connections within the international student community.

A selection committee from across campus will select the award recipient in late March. The award recipient receives a monetary prize from the Martin C. Jischke Endowment.
