Multidisciplinary engineering

about this degree

LOCATION: WEST LAFAYETTE

Multidisciplinary Engineering (MDE) is a program for students who plan to pursue engineering as a career but whose specific career goals cannot be met by any of the traditional engineering fields. The program offers considerable flexibility, including numerous electives that allow a plan of study to meet educational goals.

In MDE, students can concentrate their studies in emerging areas such as Theatre Engineering or Humanitarian Engineering; develop breadth of knowledge through General Engineering; or create their own plan of study to trailblaze new engineering disciplines.

MDE students learn to address societal challenges through human-centered approaches, by developing knowledge and skills that span engineering and non-engineering disciplines, and by becoming integrators or practitioners who work alongside others and harmonize perspectives.
