Beating Response: Two coupled beams response

Shown below is an animation of the response of the pair of beams coupled together with a soft spring.

A simulation of the free response is shown below. The system starts out from rest with the top beam given an initial deformation and the lower beam being undeformed. Note that beating response of the beams as energy is transferred back and forth between the beams.
