EPA P3 Student Design Competition

About the Contest

The People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) Student Design Competition is an exciting annual contest supported by the EPA and open to teams of undergraduate and/or graduate students. The contest provides up to $25,000 per university undergraduate/graduate team who presents a proof-of-concept design solution for a multi-year project that addresses a sustainability challenge in one of four broad research areas:

  1. Improvement of Air Quality
  2. Clean and Safe Water
  3. Sustainable and Healthy Communities
  4. Chemical Safety

The goal is to improve quality of life for people, promote prosperity by developing local economies and protecting the planet by conserving resources and minimizing pollution.  At the same time, the program engages and educates the next generation, promotes creation of innovative projects, supports demonstration of new technologies and, in the Phase II stage, fosters the development of new businesses.

The Center for the Environment and Purdue's OUR will offer support to faculty and their undergrad/grad teams to promote the development of projects for submission.  The Center will provide up to $1000 total across a number of teams (limit of $200 per team) whose ideas show promise.
