Chelsey Mullins

Chelsey advises for the Purdue London and Sydney Internship Programs, Purdue Summer in Sydney, exchanges in Latin America, and co-sponsored programs for the following organizations:  CAPA, CIMBA, College Year in Athens, Hansard Scholars Internship Programme, IES, IFSA, SAI, and SACI.

She holds a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Southern Indiana and a M.Ed in International Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago.  Chelsey studied abroad for a semester in San José, Costa Rica and for shorter programs in the Dominican Republic, Greece, China, and Italy.

Chelsey’s very first time on a plane was to fly to Costa Rica by herself to study abroad for a semester.  As a first generation college student, she thought study abroad would be out of reach for her – but with the help of a study abroad advisor, a few professors, and some scholarships, she was able to realize her dream.  Now, her favorite part of the job is helping students overcome their own obstacles to turn their study abroad dreams into reality.  She also runs Flying 101 workshops for students who are new to flying, as well as a returnee workshop to help students figure out how to leverage their experience on their resume or in interviews.

April Robillos

April works with students participating in exchange and direct enroll programs in Asia (China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan) and some parts of Europe (Scandinavia, Ireland, Italy, France, Spain and Switzerland).

April is originally from the Philippines.  She came to the United States many years ago for graduate studies so she knows first-hand how transformative and inspiring studying abroad can be.  As an advisor, April believes that a good study abroad experience begins at home.  Time flies and students often find that their term overseas went by too fast.  To make the most of their experience,  April encourages her students to lay the groundwork for success while still on campus so they can hit the ground running immediately after arrival.

April's schedule follows the academic calendar, so during breaks, students with questions about her programs are welcome to contact her colleague Alaina.

Alaina Orchard

Alaina is the primary advisor for exchange and direct enroll programs in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.  She also works with incoming exchange students from Europe and Asia and acts as a secondary advisor for April's programs during breaks in the academic year.

Alaina studied Theatre at Valparaiso University and the Ohio State University.  Her study abroad experiences included a semester in Cambridge, England and a spring break British Theatre and Culture intensive in London.  Prior to joining the Purdue Study Abroad team in 2017, Alaina worked overseas with the Cambridge program she attended in college.  While there, she completed a DipHE in Theology through the University of London and traveled as often as possible.

Since study abroad can be meaningful to different people in different ways, Alaina's favorite thing about advising is getting to know students and their goals.  She enjoys helping them find the right program and make the experience their own.
