Information for New Students

The first semester an international student studies in a new culture is an exciting adventure. It is also one of cultural adjustment.

Students are curious about life in their host culture and are eager to make friends with local residents, and the International Friendship Program provides a way for them to do just that. New international students are paired with community hosts and their families for friendship and meet about once a month during the student's first year at Purdue.

The relationships that are formed help to provide the support students need to be successful both personally and academically.

  2. Learn more about American culture.
