New Boilermakers:  Congratulations on your acceptance to Purdue!

  • Would you like to receive pre-arrival e-mails from a student already at Purdue who is willing to answer your questions about life as a student at Purdue? 
  • Would you like assistance with move in, banking, shopping, getting a cell phone, etc. when you first arrive on campus?

  • Would you like to meet friends from around the world on the very first day you arrive on campus?

MIX is always on the lookout for student leaders who want to make a difference in our university campus by making our new international students feel welcome. Serving the population that arrives too late for BGR/BGRi, we e-mail international students pre-arrival to see if they have questions we can answer and then arrive back to school early ourselves in order to welcome the newest international students--new beginner, exchange/study abroad, and transfer.

New MIX Leaders

Basic requirements include:

  • You must have been on campus as a student yourself at least one semester when you apply to be a MIX leader.

  • You must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

  • You must be on campus and ready to serve no later than noon on the Wednesday before school begins.

  • You must be a self-motivated leader who is able to put the needs of others before your own needs.

  • You must be a person who knows how to make friends out of strangers.

Winter Welcome

To apply:

  1. Attend a call-out, usually in the first week of March.

  2. Fill out an application at (undergraduates), or

  3. Fill out an application at (graduates).

  4. An in-person interview is required.

  5. Complete the International Programs Intercultural Certification by the end of the semester in which you apply.
