NEW in the HubICL in SUMMER 2021:HubICL Professional Development Zone

Many of you know the Intercultural Learning Hub (HubICL) as the one-stop for finding intercultural learning activities, assessments, and publications. Coming in summer 2021, you'll also be able to search the HubICL Professional Development Zone (PDZ) database to find professional development opportunities--some at no cost to users, others for a fee--for intercultural learning practitioners.

Because we are again parterning with HUBzero® to build this new addition to the HubICL, you will find the search interface to feel similar to the other areas of the HubICL, but with a more block-shaped design added in to emphasize that each PDZ module should be viewed as only one block in a lifelong pursuit of constructing intercultural competence.

As you might expect, you'll be able to search for PDZ offerings by various search parameters, including duration, type, level, and prerequisites. Below is a mockup of what this type of search results might look like.

When the search is complete, users can save search results by "hearting" the blocks they are interested in or choose to make their search go wider--more blocks at a specified level--or deeper--blocks on the same subject with more in depth course materials.

Below is a mockup of what this type of search and results might look like. (Our graphic designer who created the mockups must think learning to say thank you is very important to intercultural learning!)

Those registering for Tier 3 workshops in the Step Up Zone in July 2021 will be among the first to try out this newest development in the Intercultural Learning Hub!

The Intercultural Learning Hub--An introduction

The Intercultural Learning Hub (HubICL) endeavors to be the one stop needed by intercultural learning (ICL) practitioners seeking to embed ICL into the academic classroom, the study abroad experience, and/or co-curricular offerings. Full of interactive tools and assessments, the HubICL Toolbox offers a searchable library of ICL resources curated according to the AAC&U VALUE Rubric for Intercultural Knowledge and Competence, as well as stage-based pedagogy based on the Intercultural Development Continuum (IDC).

The HubICL also offers an ever-growing Research Repository of open source publications which demonstrate the intercultural development gains made by students through ICL interventions.

For those looking to increase their own understanding of the field of ICL, the HubICL offers opportunities to learn from others through Groups, Forums, and Collections.

To get started using the HubICL, please create a free membership here.
